Cats are known for being fairly aloof and independent creatures who, unlike dogs, don't always come when called. Some cat behaviorists believe that cats will respond better to certain sounds and tones, like higher-pitched "baby talk"

But what if a cat simply isn't responding to you because they don't understand your accent? If you've ever been traveling in a foreign country and tried to call out to a cat, you might have noticed they won't respond.  Some people believe it's because these international kitties react to different sounds.

In Japan, they say "shoo-shoo-shoo". In Israel, they say "ps-ps-ps". ANd in France, they say "minou-minou-minou." Each country gets a cat's attention with different noises and sounds, and these are just a few examples! Keep reading for 24 different ways to get a cat's attention the next time you travel!
