21 Cats Rescued From House Fire are Now in Need of Adoption
On June 6th, a fire broke out and destroyed the home of a local Florida family, leaving them and their 21 cats without a home. Fortunately, the family was able to make it out of the house and firefighters managed to rescue many of the remaining cats from the flames. Sadly, one cat perished in the fire.
With no choice but to find a new home, the owners had to make a difficult decision. For the health and happiness of their feline family members, they decided to put 7 of their beloved cats up for adoption. All of the cats have been adopted so far, except for two twin brothers who did not thrive in the stressful shelter environment. Raphael and Louie were so bonded, they needed to stay by each other's side.
Say hello to the Fire Cats.

Meowingtons has teamed up with the Humane Society of Broward County to help find these sweet, loving cats new homes - straight from our office. The Meowingtons Team is fostering Louie and Raphael from our workspace; and coming to work hasn't been the same since! We've taken to calling them "The Boys."
Meet "The Boys," twin brothers Louie and Raphael!
These two brothers are as sweet as can be and we here at Meowingtons are COMPLETELY enamored with them. They have brightened the office space up to no end. Raphael is the first to greet us when we walk in the door in the morning with his sweet, squeaky meow. When they're not busy snuggling up to each other, they're snuggling up to us and making sure we're staying on task!
Coming from a house with 21 cats, these boys are friendly, curious and the ultimate cuddle companions!
Meet Louie (#A578189)!
Louie, the cutest napper around.
Louie is a 7-year-old gray tiger; affectionate, talkative, and loves giving headbutts.
From his owner: “Louie is a sweetheart! A playful snuggle-bug, he loves to be held like a baby and have his belly rubbed. He will flop over on his side to remind you to rub his belly. Louie likes to jump in your arms. A cat like Louie only comes around once or twice in a life time. Louie is 7 years young.”
Meet Raphael (#A578189)!
Raphael, already making himself at home here at Meowingtons HQ!
Raphael is a 7-year-old gray tiger with an adorable snaggle tooth that only adds to his winning personality!
A note from his owner: “Raphael is a mirror twin to his brother Louie! Raphael also loves to be scooped up held like a baby, so you can give him tons of belly rubs! He also likes to flop on his side to remind his human pets to give him belly rubs. Unlike Louie, Raph might not jump in your arms, but he still loves being pet. If you took both of these guys home together, it would be like winning the lotto of the loveliest cats in the world.”
Ideally, we would love to see brothers Louie and Raphael get adopted as a pair and go to the same home, as they are a bonded pair. The HSBC is offering an "Adopt one cat, get one cat free" deal in hopes they will be adopted together. They're the ultimate BOGO deal!
If you adopt the boys the Humane Society of Broward County, the $30 fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, preliminary vaccinations, feline leukemia test, 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance, 10 days limited health care from VCA Animal Hospitals, a bag of Purina ONE pet food and cardboard carrier to go home in!

Hello guys,
My husband and I adopted one of the fire cats. Her original name was Meredith but we changed it to Princess Leia. She has the “I’m Adopted” sticker (Top left to right) in “The Fire Cats” sign. I was wondering if Louie and Raphael were adopted? We remember those too cuddling in the shelter the day we adopted our beloved Princess.
The fire story was very touching, it broke our hearts the suffering of that family and letting some cats go must have been hard for them.
Have a wonderful day!
Marcela.

If I still lived in FL, I would be there to pick up one or two to join my 3-cat household. I lost 2 of my fur babies in 2015 when our house burned. Lost 2 tabbies, the calico was saved and is now 5-yrs. old.

I trust all the cats will find great new forever homes. I am not in the area to be able to help. God Bless them all.
