People On Twitter Shared How Their Pet’s Names Evolved And It’s Pretty Great
Ever wonder how people get the nicknames they do? How on earth did we get the name Dick from Richard? Or Bob from Robert? Or Ned from Edward? Recently on Twitter, people gave an insight into how these nicknames may have evolved. After one Twitter user shared how their dog's nickname evolved, folks around the Twitterverse began sharing their own pet name evolutions. And the results are pretty amazing!

My first ever cat, Smokette, lived to be 20 years old. She passed a few years ago. In her 20 years, she was rarely ever called by her full name. She went from Smokette to Smo, then on to "Schmo", Smoke-a-Woke-a to S'Mowgli. As she aged, her meow eventually turned into a raspy sort of bleat, so we took to calling her the Old Goat. But mostly, she was Smo. Rest in peace, Smo!
Our cat’s name is Sir Pounce Alot. I called him Sir. But if I ever want his attention I just yell “Kitten!” Kitteen, and ultimately, Catten.
I have 3 cats now. First: Tinka / Tinker / Tinker pie / Stinkerpie / Tinter / Tinterpie / Tinter Toodles / Tinterpoodles / Oodles of Toodles / Dainty Lady.
2nd cat: Lucy / Lulu / Lulubelle / Lucille / Lucy the Luced-up Luce /Lucy Willow on my Pillow / Lucita / Little Lucy / Liddle Lulu, Happy at Last.

Mumu was named Bermuda for the triangle on his face. When the first grandchild started talking, he would say, “tay here, Muna.” We started calling him My and then Mumu. I got Mimi to be Mumu’s companion. Yes, Mimi and Mumu sounds good together but that is not how she got her name. She was just 10 weeks old when I got her. She couldn’t meow. All she could say was “me, me.”. So, I named her Mimi.
I have 3 cats who often get called by their nicknames… Mister, also known as Big eyes, Raccoon, Misser.
Patches, also know as Meow Meow, Mouse, Little Mouse.
Junior, also know as June, June June, June Bug.
Amazingly enough, they always still seem to know when I’m calling for them.
My late cat was the love of my life. Her name was Autumn, but when she was teeny, one day I called her “Boopty”, which evolved into “Boopty girl”, to “Boo”
And finally Baby Boo. God I miss her so much. ?
