I never use the word “owner.” Reflects on slavery too much for me. Because they are beings in their own right, and beings should not own one another. Calling myself a guardian implies that I can’t force them to do/be/act against themself and that I have the responsibility to care for them. And it’s a priviledge to be a guardian!
